What to Expect from a Reiki Session

The Reiki session is a sacred time during which you are receiving Reiki energy through my hands. I may say some prayers out loud or silently to aid in my spiritual connection and good intention for the session. Remember that while Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. I will ask you for your intentions for this session. Setting the intention, which serves your highest good, will ensure a good energy flow.

My hands may hover above your body when working with Reiki energy within your aura. I will also move my hands and gently place them on different parts of your body which correspond to your energy centers, or chakras, as a way to direct Reiki. You may feel heat coming from my hands and this is normal. Reiki energy may be perceived as tingling, vibrating, warmth or coolness, electrical, or nothing at all.

Many times it depends on the awareness a person has of their physical body and whether a person is open to feeling what is happening during a session. At times, clients may experience an emotional release. This is not unusual and nothing to be embarrassed about. Tissues are available! Every person is unique so each experience will be different.

You are the biggest part of your journey to wellness. In the session, I will ask you to think about what you are ready to release and will have you hold that in your mind at the beginning of the session. If you have a particular affirmation you like to use, saying that to yourself during the session is also helpful. For example you could use an affirmation such as “I know I am healing now and I am grateful.” The more you distance yourself from your daily problems, ease your mind and open yourself up to possibilities, the more effective the Reiki session will be.

Results can be instantaneous or gradual. Energy balancing and healing requires time to be effective.

At the end of the treatment, I will tell you what I noticed and will ask you the same. Afterwards, I will suggest what I believe will be the best follow up treatment for you.

Note: Similar to massage it is recommended to increase your water intake for the rest of the day.

In order to better serve my clients it would be greatly appreciated that you arrive as closely as possible to your scheduled appointment time. If you need to cancel or reschedule a 24-hour notice is required by calling 202-391-1141 or a cancellation fee of the cost of the service will be charged.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

It is typically recommended that a client receive 4-6 treatments (about a week apart) to get the maximum benefit, especially for a chronic or severe problem, as the energy will have time to build and increase in the body for overall support.

Coming once a month can make you feel better, more energized, feel more focused, rested and at peace. It is a great self-care practice!
